Show Theory That Swinn Was Attacked, Robbed and Hurled Into Creek. Special to The Tribune. BINGHAM, March 2S. Mystery and a suggestion of foul play were added to the death of Robinson Swinn late today with the report that Swi tin's hat, which was missing: when his body was found in the City creek flume at :30 o'clock this morning, had been discovered by boys on top of a high railroad trestle near by. When found, Swinn was lyinpr face down in the swift water of the flume. Firs I reports that his forehead had been gashed when he struck a crosspiece of the flume in falling were corrected and it became known that there was a great gash back of his left. ear. such as could scarcely have been made by a fall forward. It was pointed out that Swinn could have by no means fallen from the trestle without being badly crushed, and the suspicion sus-picion has arisen that he was attacked while on the trestle and then thrown into, the creek. Dr.' F. E. Straup and Dr. J. Anderson examined Swinn' s body and pronounced his death due to drowning. In his pockets were found a cheap watch, which had stopped at 3:50 o'clock, and some tobacco, coupons. Not a cent was in his pockets, although he had displayed money in sa- loons on the preceding day. The body is now at the O'Donnell undertaking un-dertaking establishment at Bingham, i Swinn is survived by his widow, who Is an employee of the Miners' Mercantile, company of Coppevfield. Funeral arrange- i ments have not been made. j |
