Show MERCHANTS GREET ADVENT OF SPRING Even Local Coal Dealers Join in Chorus of Joy Over Rise in Mercury. Salt Lake City enjoyed a real spring day yesterday, evidenced by the thermometer ther-mometer in front of the post office, which registered &2 degrees around noon time. One did not have to look at -the thermometer to know that Miss Spring had made her appearance. One glimpse at the department stores was sufficient. Clerks at the various establishments were called upon to do some regular work in showing the latest creations in millinery and other raiment. O. T). Coughlin, one of the buyers of the Walker Brothers' Dry Goods company, com-pany, said yesterday that the dry goods establishments were satisfied with the sudden visit of warmer weather; that he felt he vuiccd the sentiments of all engaged in that business. Another expression of relief was extended ex-tended by a coal dealer hre and there. For the past months they have been at their wits' ends in endeavoring to keep abreast of an abnormal demand for coal, with mediocre success. Now, that folks are allowing their furnaces to die out. the demand is not so crent, as one of their number said yesterday: "Relieve "Re-lieve me, when the cold weath-ir hits Salt Lake next fall we will have a reserve re-serve supply of coal on hand, even though we have to transport it in wheelbarrows wheel-barrows from the mines." |
