Show UNCLE SAM WANTS WOMEN TO REGISTER Many Excellent Positions May Be Awaiting Them In tie Navy Department. De-partment. Uncle Sam is anxious to have all the women of Utah who are qualified to hold positions as radio operators, nurses, yeomen in the naval land service, ser-vice, or other clerical positions, register regis-ter themselves with the local navy recruiting re-cruiting station that thev may be called upon for service if their services ser-vices are needed. Such is the tenor of a telegram received re-ceived last night by Lieutenant Guthrie, Guth-rie, in charge of the' local navy recruiting recruit-ing station, from the navy recruiting headquarters at San Francisco. The message is in reply to one sent by Lieutenant Guthrie asking for instructions in-structions as to enlistine nurses and women who are applying for enrollment as stenographers in the naval service. The telegram advises that the service has no authority as yet to enlist women for service in any branch, but that all women who are qualified for the lines of service outlined above, and who apply for enlistment, shall be registered so that if needed they may be sworn into the country' 's service and dispatched to the points where their services are needed, without delay. In view of this it is announced by Lieutenant Guthrie that all women applying ap-plying at the recruiting station will be registered and will be listed for service, so that they may be called upon at ajjy moment they are needed. |
