Show COUNTY AUTHORITIES EM POLICE Say Donnelly Is Being Shielded; Sheriffs Office Seeks Extradition. Unless John Donnelly, discharged police officer, is apprehended within a few days, the isheriff's office will be ordered to circularize cir-cularize the entire country and extradite him, regardless of cost, was the ultimatum ulti-matum issued by the county attorney's office last -night. Ever since the night the patrolman is alleged to have administered admin-istered a brutal beating to J. T. Sullivan of Eureka It is charged that the police have known of the man's whereabouts, but have refused to give him up to the sheriff's office. It was said at the county attorney's office, where Frank S. Richards is handling han-dling the case, that Sergeant Selgfus saw the beating administered to Sullivan, as did two other policemen, and that, unless un-less Donnelly is captured soon, the three officers will be charged with failing 10 do their duty, a misdemeanor under Utah laws. It was also charged that certain police officers knew that the fugitive fugi-tive was in Salt Lake at an early hour yesterday morning and that they communicated com-municated with him. The sheriff's office is reported as having hav-ing several deputies looking for the man, and Attorney Richards said that the case was one of the most flagrant abuses of police power he had ever heard of and that he is determined to capture and punish all who were responsible for the assault on the young man from Eureka. |
