Show ELKS PAY TRIBUTE TO WALLACE TAYLOR Funeral of Secretary of Local Lodge Held From Club Rooms Yesterday Afternoon. 1'unera services for Wallace S. Taylor, Tay-lor, secretary of the local lodge of Elk's, were held in. the Elks' club yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Kev. Peter A. Simpkin delivered the eulogy. More than 250 Elks were present, and the large hall was filled with friends and relatives. A musical programme was rendered by the Elks' quartette, composed of Horace Ensign, Fred Graham, Willard Squires and Samuel Winter. The songs were "Savior, Comfort lie," "Not Dead, but Sleepeth." "Abide With Me" and "The Christian's Good Ni"ht. " Miss Becky Almond was accompanist. ac-companist. The body was taken to the Elks' Best, Mount Olivet, where the Rev. Mr. Simp-kin Simp-kin delivered the prayer. The pallbearers pallbear-ers were Thomas Hobday, Kenneth Grier. .1. S. Joseph, .Joseph" Hughes, W. O. Williams and C. M.- Hirsch. The Rev. Mr. Simpkin voiced for the fraternity a loving word of appreciation for the deceased secretary, who had drawn to himself in deep measure the affection of the local fraternity. Paying Pay-ing tribute to the warm-hearted aiid fraternal spirit of the departed man, the speaker said, in part: Behind all the sense of his loss and grief that centers here, as it does wherever a clean and useful life comes to the earthly close of the fretted day, there is that which holds warmth and lights the candle of an unflickering hope as we recall re-call the strong, gentle, affectionate life that has run from his childhrod by the Pacific's unending music to the quiet sleep under the shadow of these pine-covered crests and snowy summits. Marked by fidelity, tenderness, integrity and the outflow of a spirit quick to serve in home's sweet ministry, min-istry, in the social relationships and in the arena of the common service that calls us to life's duty, he was that we reioico to remember and to ioin with him in that faith immobile im-mobile which was a quenchless passion pas-sion of his soul. |
