Show SYNOD PAYS TRIBUTE TO JUDGE GOODWIN The synod of Utah, in conference assembled as-sembled at the First Presbyterian church of Salt Lake City, joins with the community com-munity in paying the following tribute to the memory of Judge C. C. Goodwin: He inherited a kindly heart and a Puritan training-, and when lie made his way to the front as a maker of public opinion his visor was always kindly and his vision of the ideal clear and abiding. He not only wielded the pen of a ready writer with genius, but he had to an extraordinary degree de-gree the gift of seeing and commending commend-ing the things that were most excellent excel-lent most deserving of honor in the lives of his contemporaries. No one could say fine things more finely of those with whom he had crossed swords, and when he wrote of his comrades in service his pen was tipped with the. most delicate human sympathy. During the passionate days that gave Utah statehood, he did essential service for those who needed need-ed it most, and in quieter days did not get out of touch with things as thev are. or lose the visions and dreams of his youth.
