Show HORSES POISONED BY COPPER OXIDE State Livestock Inspector Believes Ore Deposits to Exist Along the Sevier Eiver. Dr. E, U Hojjgan of the state livestock live-stock commission has- returned from Delta, Millard county, after investigating investigat-ing tbe deaths of three horses which he says were due to copper oxide poisoning. poi-soning. The horses belonged to the Sevier Se-vier Land & Water company and it is believed that they were poisoned by drinking water from the upper lino canal.' Dr. l-loc;can has samples of the green ore washed down in the stream and he believes that if a thorough' examination ex-amination was made copper deposits would be. found. The canal receives its water from the Sevier river and it is thought that the green ore deposits were washed away from the bank. All told, eleven horse's were affected, but due to the prompt treatment given by Dr. Hoggan, eight will recover. Dr. Hoggan also examined twenty hogs of the Delta Land & Water company com-pany affectod with sore mouths. He instructed a vetcrinaiian to extract the teeth of the hogs. Cholera among hogs has 'broken out in Boxeldcr county. "Dr. Hoggan is advised ad-vised that one hog is dead and seven dying, according to a report made by Dr. J. W. Chambers of Garland. The farm affected is not mentioned. An inspector will loave for Garland today. |
