Captain Henri Bloch ot' the J'reneU army arrived at V'ort Douglas vesterrlay morning and will immediately immediate-ly take up duties as spc-in! instructor and adviser of trench warfare to the officers and troops at the post. Captain Bloch was assigned by the war department to duty at Fort T)ouzlas and according to his orders he is attached to that post for duty until further orders. ' ' The captain, attired in his blue-gray uniform of a French officer, and weaving weav-ing the gold stripes indicative of serv-and serv-and wounds received in battle, rode jver the training field at the post yesterday yes-terday morning with Lieutenant Colonel W. The captain was wounded iu Belgium during an engagement with the Germans Ger-mans in January of this year. He explained ex-plained yesterday that he was eugaged in reading a military map when he was struck bv shrapnel which punctured his right arm in two places and his right leg below the knee. The captain spent two years in the trenches on the front in the Chemin des T'ames sector and went through some of the thickest and hardest of .the fighting. |
