AX elaborate Christmas bazaar will be given at Cathedral hall this 'week, under the direction of the Altar society of St. Patrick Pat-rick 's parish of the Catholic church. The bazaar nill run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, opening formally for-mally at 5 p. in. Tuesday with a turkey tur-key dinner, which will last until 9 ; o'clock, thereby giving everyone an op-1 portunity to en "joy a good and perfectly ! appointed old-fashioned turkey dinner.1 J The arrangements tor the entire affair af-fair are in charge- of Mtb. Fred Brein-ing, Brein-ing, a prominent member of St. Patrick Pat-rick 's Altar society. The admission will be free. An excellent ex-cellent musical programme wiJl be giv-j giv-j en every night by some of Salt Lake's j leading musicians and also the young students of the Conservatory of Music of St. Mary's academy, with Miss Adine . Brownlce "in charge "of the orchestral! numbers. ! The fortune-telling booth will be in charge of Mrs. Ellon Garev, who holds j the enviable record of telling wonder- , fnl things of both past and future. St. Mary's academy booth will be j one of the most attractive. It will be j gracefully decorated in pennants and j streamers of blue and white, the acad- I emy colors. The sisters and students have been busily engaged for many weeks in preparing many pretty articles arti-cles with which to adorn their booth. Beautiful sets for the dining table, the boudoir, in Mexican drawn-work and the various kinds of embroidery, have multiplied and bid fair to appeal .strong- i ly to the bazaar visitors. The hand-painted hand-painted china is particularly lovoly, with cups and saucers in dainty designs. Numerous other - a rticles, smokers ? sets, pictures, handkerchiefs and exquisite exqui-site laces, will go toward making the St. Mary's academy booth the li a n d -i somest in the Cathedral hall. The ! young women of the class of 1017, attractively at-tractively gowned, will be in charge of the booth, and their pretty faces and charming manners will add much to the general beauty of the bazaar. Mrs. Kmma Whitehead gave a review of Harold Bell Wright's novel, "When, a Man's a Man." Mrs. J. M. Carlson gave vocal selections, accompanied by Miss Nora Hardy. She sang "Fly With Me," from " Ernana,' ' Iry Verdi, and "Bowl of Roses," by Robert Clark. The assisting as-sisting hostesses were Mrs. W. W. Gee, Mrs. Buchanan, Airs. James Beveridge and Mrs. C. J. Albaugh. ' The current events and current literature litera-ture section of the Ladies Literary club will meet at the clubhouse Friday afternoon. after-noon. Mrs. Emma F. Daft of the arts and crafts department of the Salt Lake high school will give a paper on "The History of Jewelry Making," and will give an exhibition of hand-wrought jewelry. jew-elry. Tea will be served. All club members mem-bers are invited. The W. C. T. U. will hold a mass meeting at the Central Christian church this afternoon at 3 o'clock. The theme will be 1 ' Constitutional Prohibition. ' ' The meeting is a part- of a national plan in the interest of prohibition, and similar simi-lar meetings will be held today all over the United States. State Senator Evans and other prominent speakers will appear ap-pear on the programme. The K. E. Lee chapter, United Daughters Daugh-ters of the Confederacy, and their rriends will lie entertained by Mrs. D. W. Phelan at her home, 115U East Second Sec-ond South street, Wednesday evening. Mrs. P. B. Clark, who spent twelve years in Belgium and is in Salt Lake for the winter, will give a talk on "Belgian "Bel-gian Women." Salt Lake circle, Women of Woodcraft, Wood-craft, will hold a card social Monday evening at Eagles' hall, Second South and West Temple streets. PrizcB will be awarded.
