Show DENY RESIGNATION , OF WALTER PAGE By International News Service. WASHINGTON, Dec. 9. The White house and state department today authorized au-thorized denials of a report that Walter l Hines Page, ambassador to Great Brit- I aiu, had resigned. Secretary Lansing said he had no reason to believe Mr. Page intended to resign. Ambassador Page visited President Wilson at Shadow Lawn at the conclusion con-clusion of his vacation in thiB country two months ao. At that time it was stated officially the chief executive had outlined to Mr. Page matters of policy which involved a continuation of his services if the president was re-elected. From other quarters Mr. Page is reported re-ported to have said while here on leave of absence that he would leave the office of-fice a poor man because of the heavy expense attached to that post. President Wilson, it is understood, is desirous that the present ambassadors at London, Paris, Berlin, Vienna and Petrograd shall all retain their posts I because of their special fitness and j value at this time. |
