Show SUGGEST SITES FOR ARMOR PLATE PLANT Special Board Will Visit Interior Cities to Determino Availability and Ad-I Ad-I vantages as Possible Locations. WASHINGTON, Dec. 0. A summary of the report of the special board appointed ap-pointed to consider the question of a site for the government 's projected $11,-000,000 $11,-000,000 armor plate plant, was made public late today by Secretary Daniels. It recommends that a coastal and border areas be eliminated from consideration for military reasons, and names the following fol-lowing cities as oiiermg localities which the board considers comparatively sate in time of war: Birmingham, Tuscaloosa and Gadsen, Ala.; Kome, tia.; Lorn ax, Cario and Metropolis, 111.; Kvansville and Rook-port, Rook-port, lnd.; Keokuk, Iowa; Charleston and Huntington, W, Va.; Louisville and Middiesboro. Ky.; Tulsa and Muskogee, Okla., and Elizabethtown. Bristol, Chattanooga, Chat-tanooga, Kingsport and Knoxville, Tenu., and Gilmer, Tex. Secretary Daniels will appoint another an-other board Monday to visit these cities and to study matters of freight rates, transportation facilities and other economy features. lie will await a report re-port before finally selecting the site. |
