Show RECEIVE MORE DATA ON STEAMER PALERMO "WASHINGTON, Dec. 9. Further information in-formation regarding tho attack on the Italian steamer Palermo, reported torpedoed tor-pedoed off the Spanish coast with a loss of one American, reached the state department de-partment today, but was described bv officials as inconclusive. It was said that all the facts might not be in hand for another two weeks. The information being gatheied by the department in regard to recent sub- marine activities is being held in confidence con-fidence pending n decision by President Wilson as to whether Germany's pledges have been violated. Within the last three weeks inquiries on the loss of teu steamers hax'e been directed to the Berlin Ber-lin foreigu office. Information also lias beeu sought from the London foreigu office, and many affidavits by survivors are on file at the department. |
