Crittenden, a noted Missou- H rian, died at his home here this morn,- ing. He suffered a stroke of apoplexy IH Thursday afternoon and remained un- IH conscious until he died. Mr. Crittenden was 77 years old. He was born in Selby county, Kentucky and received his education at Center college, Danville, Ky. Among his class- H matos were W. C. P. Brcckenridge and IH John Young Brown. He came to Mis- souri before the Civil war and later formed a law partnership with Francis H M. Cockrcll, afterward United States H senator. In 1S78 Mr. Crittenden be- IB came Governor of Missouri, and it was H to Governor Crittenden that Frank H James, tho noted outlaw, laid down his II arms. He was consul-goneral to Mex- 1 H ico under President Cleveland. H |
