Show 1 j John O. Spencer Expresses Views on the New Utah Insurance Code JOHN D. SPENCER. John D. Spencer, member of tho executive ex-ecutive committee of tho Utah Association Associ-ation of Life Underwriters, in commenting com-menting upon, tho new law recently enacted en-acted for the protection of the public and insurance companies of the stato, calls attention to tho need of strict enforcement en-forcement of tho provisions of the law in order to secure benoficial results. "The peculiarity of life insurance,' ' said Mr. Spencer, "is that thoBC agents who, do a low grado of business caro little for any law restricting, their business and "unless thoy are carefully watched will continue to carry on their business just as if thero was" no provision provi-sion against their class of work." Sir. Spencer expresses the fear that many ot: those agents arc still working, although al-though less openly than they were. "I feel that tho only wav to make the present law effective,' r said Sir. Spencer, "is to make an example of some of tho agents who do a low-crade low-crade business, cither by canceling Iheir license to do business of by suspending sus-pending tho license of some of tho companies which wilfully encourage their agents to do those things which aro contrary to tho new laws recently enacted." One of the most noticeable things in connection with tho new law, Mr. Spencer thinks, is the value of organization. organ-ization. One of tho strongest factors in bringing about tho enactment of tho new law was the work of tho association. associa-tion. On this account and especially for the excellent results obtained in the past by tho organization, it is , hoped to enlarge the membership greatly and to include as far as possible pos-sible all the agents of first-claBs com-panics com-panics in the state. |
