In tho caso of the state of Utah vs. Edwin Hall, charged with grand larceny, defendant pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years' Imprisonment In tho state penitentiary. peniten-tiary. . Tho principal caso before tho court was that of Edith Soarlc vs. Riter Bros. Drug company. Plaintiff charged tho defendant defend-ant company with selling her a prescription prescrip-tion which was not properly compounded, and as a result Hhe received bodily injury for which she claimed damages In tho sum of $10,000. After many witnesses for both sides had been examined, tho case finally wont to the Jury Wednesday afternoon. The Jury returned a verdict In favor of plaintiff, placing tho damages at S300. Many cases wero considered and passed for tho term. Judgo H. A. Pederson of tho Juvenile court held a busy session tills week in Brigham, at which many cases ,wero disposed dis-posed of. A Juvenllo from Corlnno was up, charged with truancy during the entire en-tire Bchool year. Two youngsters of Fielding were tried for profanity and entering en-tering saloons; ono was in from Promontory, Promon-tory, charged with profanity and using tobacco. This city furnished throo cases, and in each caso the juvenile was charged with drinking beer. The judge reprimanded repri-manded tho boys and placed them all on probation. More now automobiles havo been purchased pur-chased by Brigham residents during tha past week. Joseph F. Hansen and William Wil-liam Jensen have each purchased a Bulck touring car. E. W. Dunn is in Ogden today to-day for the purpose of selecting a machine. ma-chine. Eulalla Hansen, the little daughter or jvir. and Mrs. Joseph F. Hansen, had the misfortune to fall and break a bone in her arm yesterday afternoon. Tho little girl was playing with some other children, chil-dren, and, in running, she fell on her arm, breaking the bone. The sufferer was soon made comfortable by a physician. physi-cian. Yesterday, while sawing lumber at Jeppson Bros.' sawmill just west of Honeyville, Norman Hansen of this city met with a painful accident, nearly losing his right hand. Through some means. Mr. Hansen's hand was drawn into the saw. which cut the first finger off at the joint. Tho second finger was also badly Injured. He was brought to this citv and treated by Dr. Harding at the local hospital, where the fingers wero graft-od graft-od on. The sito for the now grist mill to be erected in this city has been changed from the site decided on by the company on First East and Forest streets, and will bo erected on Forest street near the depot. The first site decided on would have placed the mill right In the business section ot tho town, and considerable protest would have been made by properly prop-erly owners in that vicinity had not the company changed sites. Babies were born during the past week to Mr. and Mrs. Don Mathias, a girl; to Mr. and Mrs. Nels L. Hansen, a girl; to Mr. and Mrs. Bert Olsen, a girl. |
