The two children chil-dren recently won the prize for piano duet at the Murrav musical carnival, where they met with great success, and have been requested to participate in the musical p3rt of the program for the commencement exercises of the i graduates of the county public schools, at the Granite stake house on Fonr-' Fonr-' teeath South and State streets. " Everyone who has heard them play speaks of them with un- bounded praise. Ella in particular has a wondertul tcchniqne. . . The public is invited, i ( The Salt Lake Choral society will ; hold. a special meeting Tuesday" even-j even-j ing at S o'clock, at Christensen 's Dancing academy, to consider plans for a musical event, to be given in the very near future. Special invitations arc being sent to all who have ever associated as-sociated with the society, and as the meeting will probably "determine the future policy of the organization it is especialW desired that all members be present. " Hugh W. Dougall and pupils will give a song service in the Twenty-eighth Twenty-eighth ward meeting house this Sunday Sun-day evening at G:30 o'clock. An entertaining en-tertaining program has been arranged. "The Splnnr," the new opera by Prof. J. J. McClellan and Briant S. Young, is almost completed, and rehearsals re-hearsals will begin about the middle of June. The cast is now being selected select-ed and will include some of the best-knowu best-knowu local people. There arc parts for "twelve principal characters, and tho chorus will number forty. As the production will occur during the week of the G. A. K. encampment special patriotic features arc being prepared, and one night will be set apart as G. A. I?. night, and invitaiious will be j extended to General Xevius. The man- j acement has been placed in the hands of John D. Giles and ihe preliminary i arrangements have all been made. Mr. j Giles has been given orders to put on i the best production ever accorded a local lo-cal company, and as there is ample financial backing already assured, the : task of gctiing together the immense production will be pushed with vigor., 'The Snhinx" will run the entire: week of the . encampment, with the usual matinees. At the First Methodist Episcopal church this Sunday evening there will be a concert of "sacred songs, under the direction of Mrs. William A. ''et-zell.
