Raymond Albert Patterson, known I widely under his uen name of ltaymond, had been conucctod with the Chicago Tribune for thirty-onc years, fifteen years as its Washington correspondent, Ho was a man of charming person-alitv person-alitv a vigorous writer, and enjoyed the wpr'm confidence of tho lenders in pub-lie pub-lie life (in Washington and dsewhere. He was a schoolmate ot President Taft. Mr. Patterson's illness dates from last winter, when he underwent an operation for enlarged glands of f-hc throat. He was a nativo of Chicago, and was 53 years old.
