Show Remark Was Dubious. Senator Gorman of Maryland was discussing a doubtful remark that had been made In a doubtful political situation. situa-tion. "Dubious," said Senator Gorman. "A dubious man, a dubious remark, a dubious dubi-ous sltuallon. It Is all very dubious indeed. It reminds me of the speech a New Bond street tailor made to a friend of mine who got measured In London for a pair of riding breeches. "This tailor made my friend take off his trousers, and, kneeling down, he measured carefully all over first the right and then the left leg. " 'Now, he said, getting up, 'you may put your trousers on again.' "He kept studying my friend mean-whllo mean-whllo from the waist down. " 'It Isn't often, sir,' ho said finally, 'that w get a leg like yours to fit. There's some credit, let mo tell you, In fitting a leg like yours.' "Wasn't that dubious?" Senator Gorman Gor-man ended. "My friend blushed, but ho didn't know himself whether he blushed for pride or for shame." Buffalo Enquirer. |
