Show GRAND CIRCUIT RACES MUST BE SQUARE Now that men Interested' in Grand circuit racing have been given suitable representation on the board of review of the National Trotting association It is to be hoped the managers of the new organization will not be antagonistic to that parent body. Under the control of the Grand) circuit Incorporation a Judge will be appointed who will start in at Detroit and go through to Memphis. His assistants will bo selected by the local tracks, but must be men of ability. Two racing stewards will attend each meeting. At present the plans are to have them search for fraud and all Infractions In-fractions of tho rules and report them to the judges. The rules of the National or American association will be used and strictly enforced. If fraud committed com-mitted at one track Is not discovered until the following week the stewards will make a case out at once and a spe cial meeting, of the board of review will be held at once to take action on It. This calling of special meetings by the board of revlow to decide cass was one of the promises made before the congress. In the past the board has met only in May and December. The object of the new Grand circuit organization Is to make tracks as well as owners and drivers live up to the rules. Even a tyro. In racing affairs will be able to see how greatly harness racing rac-ing Interests will be benefited by the reforms re-forms which the new organization will put into practice. That the National Trotting association associa-tion will not stand In tho way of the carrying out of the plans of the Grand circuit members Is guaranteed by tho make-up of the board of review as now constituted, and It looks as If In tho coming season harness racing will be more nearly conducted In a manner to gain the approval of the public than It has been In the past |
