Tho contest con-test ball at tho opcra-houso lant night was one of tho largest attended and most enthusiastic en-thusiastic social affairs held in that hall for norno tlmo past. In fact tho contest for tho most popular lady of tho Flrut and Socond wards of this city has croatcd no llttlo amount of oxcltomcnt for a week or more. Tho contest began with about fifteen ladles In tho field, but finally final-ly conlernd on three of theso young la-dlcB. la-dlcB. Tho First ward was divided against themselves, and worked for tho election of two candidates, Miss Amelia Graohl, deputy county clerk, and Miss Kelly, tho Tabernacle organist. Tho Second ward came In on the last heat with a big majority ma-jority for their candidate, Miss Eliza Slg-gard, Slg-gard, daughter of P. P. Slcgard, one of our well-to-do citizens. All day Friday tho above candidates changed places on tho special bulletins at tho drug stores and newspaper offices. At Intervals In tho danco tho count was announced, creating cre-ating loud applauso from those Interested. The ballot closed at 11:03 p. m., with the following count: Eliza Slgpard 1.SS2 Llzzlo Kelly 633 Amolla Graehl G53 Miss SiKKard's majority over both, ISO; over Mlsa Kelly, 771. A beautiful gold locket was purchased for tho winning lady, but she was not present to recclvo It, as she has been Quito sick for tho past two weeks with la grippe. Besides tho coupons about 150 danco tickets wero disposed of. which will net tho wards about $75 each outside of expenses. ex-penses. Elder Potcr Sorenson performed tho marrlago coromony last night that united two of our popular young pooplc of this city for "bolter or for worse." Tho ceremony cere-mony took placo at tho home of tho parents of tho groom. Mr. and Mrs. H. Rasmusscn, our leading merchant tailor. Tho contracting parties were MI33 Annlo Peterson and Myrus Rasmusscn. Tho bride is a charming young lady and Is tho sole ownor and manager of tho Brig-ham Brig-ham City laundry. A grand rccoptlon was tendered the young couplo last night at tho homo of tho groom'3 parents, about fifty guests participating and wishing them happiness and prosperity. Many pretty and valu-ablo valu-ablo presents were presented to the young couple. Thoy will make tlielr home hero, residing at tho corner of Seventh South and Main streets. NOTES.
