Show CHARGES AGAINST 1 SENATOR DIETRICH Investigation Into Appointment of Nebraska Postmaster "Will Begir March. 11th. WASHINGTON, March 6. Senator Dietrich of Nebraska today appeared before a committee of the Senate appointed ap-pointed to investicate the transaction by which Jacob Fisher received the appointment ap-pointment as postmaster at Hastings, Neb., and the charges on which the Senator Sen-ator way indicted for trafficking in Federal Fed-eral offices. The Investigation opened with a review re-view of the documents filed by District Attorney W. S. Summers of Nebraska, and a canvass of the list of witnesses by which Mr. Summers said he could provo his, case. Many of the- witnesses were for the purpose of Identifying certain cer-tain checks and papers alleged to figure fig-ure in the case. Senator Dietrich, however, how-ever, went over the list and expressed a willingness to identify the checks and papers himself and thu9 avoid the necessity neces-sity for summoning of a large number of persons. This also will shorten the inquiry, which will begin on March 11th. |
