President MltchelL said. "This means a strike." INDIANAPOLIS. Ind., March 5. The ijolnt conference between the coal miners mi-ners and operators at the central competitive com-petitive district adjourned tonight without with-out reaching an agreement as to tho scale of wages for the year commencing commenc-ing April 1st. This Is the second time there has been a failure to agree. The operators are leaving for their homes. The S00 miners' delegates hero will meet Monday morning In national convention, con-vention, when, It Is announced, a statement state-ment of the position of the miners will be given to the public. Tho final disagreement and adjournment adjourn-ment sine die came after a day devoted to consideration of the ultimatum of the operators, which was that a two-years' two-years' scale be signed at a reduction of 5V2 per cent from the present scale. |
