Two films will be shown ; Wednesday: "Fun Factory" and "The General." ' ; "Fun Factory" was Mack - Sennett's assembly-line ,:: studio, turning out Keystone '- Cops and bathing beauties, ; creating such stars as Ben Turpin. Carole Lombard. Charlie Chaplin and Marie Dressier. THIS FILM tells of Sennett's Sen-nett's rise from movie extra to King of Comedy and shows some of the best of the classic slapstick mayhem that made him and his crew world-famous. world-famous. "The General," made in 1927, is considered by film historians to be the last truly classic comedy of the silent era. A ONE-MAN show-it was directed by as well as starring I Buster Kea ton-it was a spoof on Civil War espionage, combining com-bining some spectacular war action with Keaton's celebrated celebrat-ed dry wit. |
