Show I .V. i j I , ' J ! j TOMMY NIXON Receives Silver Beaver Tommy L. Nixon, with 38 years of scouting service, received a Silver Beaver Award. He became Scoutmaster of Troop 401, Rosecrest Ward, East Millcreek, in 1947 and received a meritorious service ser-vice medal as the highest award given by that District in 1951. He taught scout leaders at the University of Scouting in Salt LakeCity for three years, received the Buckskin Award, Arrow Head Honor and the Scoutmasters Award in 1970. Served as cub master in Bountiful Stake in order to organize cubbing in 1952 and worked as commissioner in Bountiful Stake from 1952 to 1953. He has been an Eagle Scout for over 33 years and has eleven palms to Eagle Badge with some 80 merit badges. He has also been a merit Badge Counselor for 23 years. Was Scoutmaster of Troop 254 Centerville 4th Ward for 3 years and received the Silver Beehive for Lakeshore District Dis-trict in 18. He attended the National Woodbadge Training at Shaner Lake, California and received his beads in 1969. He is an active member of the Order of the Arrow. Under his guidance the Davis Slake went from one Eagle Scout per year to eighteen, twenty-five and then thirty-five thirty-five during his tenure. He served as Cam poire chairman for Lakeshore and Antelope District, also assistant assis-tant District Commissioner and is currently serving as District program chairman. The Silver Beaver was awarded to Tom Nixon on Feb. 10, 1976 at Skyline High School. |
