Show West iMOUffidQl ! Another event whicn rivaled the Olympic thrills was the honor which came to Shane Swealfield. son of the Ken Sweattieids. He received first place in his wrestling division (98 pounds) at the sophomore tournament at Ben Lomond in Ogden. Congratulations to him and some other young people of the West Bountiful Ward, who received honors in their schooling: Ron Bown, Janet Johnson. Knstine Brown. Kris Schulthies, and Ellen Motlishaw! Back to the visitors. Brad McLean and family were happy to have friends and relatives visit and attend the "farewell' of Brad of the Second Ward. He is leaving for a mission to Sweden. Brad's grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. W.C. McLean, and aunts, Marilyn Ratcliff and Donna Lloyd, of Ogden. were among the group. Lon Child and family were happy to see the many friends and guests who attended his farewell in the Third W ard. The Steve Lindsays also attended. at-tended. One of the greatest thrills of the Olympics is the flying of all the nations' flags, it has been and will continue to be the same thrill at Sunday services in the Third Ward. They are flying the American flag during the Bicentennial year. They are also beginning to work on plans for a Bicentennial talent show to display the talents of the members of the ward. More visitors, the Jim Andersons, An-dersons, had their "cheering section" with them when they spoke in sacrament meeting Sunday. Jim's mother, Mildred Anderson and brothers, Allen and Chris, were there from Midvale. The program was made more appealing ap-pealing by the fact that three year old Lara and two year old Becky talked with the help of their parents, Jim and Jeanie. The Stan Dangerfields were glad to see their nephew, Terry Haines, before his leaving for a mission to Switzerland. Swit-zerland. Terry is from Anaheim, California. Welcome to Paul and Ann Giles, who moved into a new home in Sunnyview; also to Kirk and Susan Cleverly, who moved into a new home on the frontage road across the street from Ted Eggett and the Harold Hugnes! Ceiia Merrell didn't stay at home and view the Olympics. She and daughter Phyllis and husband Ariel, were entranced en-tranced as they attended a performance of the Promised Valley Playhouse, "George M " Afterwards, as the Millers ate dinner. The visitors at the Olympics have reported that they are proud of their heritage as Americans. This was echoed by the young adults of Bountiful Boun-tiful West Stake last Wednesday Wednes-day night. They presented their program of "My Heritage." Shauna Muir of the West Bountiful Second Ward assisted in the direction of the program. The West Bountiful Second Ward also directed the presentation of the colors. Terry Cox and Ben Argyle participated by giving readings. This was a great week for a great citizen of the city. Nanella Jones, mother of Eileen Jeppson. was honored on her eightieth birthday. She was the guest of honor at a party at the home of her son Les Jones and wife Katherine. Among those attending the party were Carol Jeppson, wife, Dana Jeppson and wife, Wayne Jeppson, all of West Bountiful. Nan's daughter, Betty Horsley, came down from Afton. Wyoming and took her back to visit. Nan was proud and happy to celebrate her birthday in the Bicentennial year. She has had many struggles and much happiness in her eventful event-ful eighty years. Tonight is the night of the West Bountiful Third Ward's birthday party All members over eighteen years of age will enjoy an outstanding dinner and dance. They truly are sure that Friday the 13th is the most lucky day of any month or any year.
