Show 'Palladio9 to be shown at SUSC CEDAR CITY -"Palladio The Architect and His Influence in America" will be shown April 14 at 8 p.m. The hour-long film showing is made possible by Friends of the Gallery, a citizens' development organization dedicated to cultural promotion through the visual art events .. of the Gallery. According to Prof. Thomas A. Leek, gallery curator, Andrea Palladio (1508-80) was one of Italy's greatest and most influential architects. He crystallized various Renaissance ideas, notably the revival of Roman symmetrical planning and harmonic proportions. Palladianism, a style derived from the buildings and publications of Palladio, flourished in England, Northern Europe and later the United States. The film is a narration giving essential social and structural information in-formation and explains the basis for Palladio'l designs and the impact of his work in America. The shifts from winter to spring and summer show the varied personalities per-sonalities of the buildings that appear in different conditions of atmosphere and light. |
