Show t .. . .. Theresa Cartwright Ken Joseph Elvis F. Wall Steve Haggerty Gretchen Decker Street scene CEDAR CITY - This week the Record asked Cedar residents what their opinions were concerning catering services selling to students around the school grounds. The question was: How do you feel about the catering service selling to students around school grounds? t Gretchen Decker: "If my kids were in school. I would still think that it would be alright for the catering truck to come around. In Parowan, they used to go across .the street . to the Dairy Freeze, so there isn't much different. If they don't buy from the catering truck, they would probably buy the food from somewhere else." Theresa Cartwright: "If they don't buy from him, they will probably buy from one of the small stores around the area and still buy candy anyway. I really don't know how I feel about it. I'm not that opposed to him selling there because at least I know if the kids are buying things, they are at least buying it on school grounds and not uptown and they can make it back to classes on time." Ken Joseph: "I don't really think that the catering truck is a good idea because I think that we should encourage good nutrition, balanced meals, and things like that. The catering service does not provide that. There is too much junk food, candies, and confections con-fections for the students'" student-s'" Steve Haggerty: "Why not? If the students want it, why not have it. If the catering truck was on time and if they students are on time why shouldn't he be allowed to sell. He should be allowed to sell. I can't see any reason why he shouldnH. He can't make any money unless he sells." Elvis F. Wall: "There are two arguments on that. One, certain individuals in-dividuals could indicate they have a right to sell items because our economy is based on the free enterprise system. With such an economy some will argue that it is quite legitimate to allow students to purchase munchies from the wagon. Basically I strongly feel that this is a problem that needs to be dealt with by the school board and not by the city." |
