Show New so ftball complex fund-raising slated CEDAR CITY Have you ever felt the urge to take a local business competitor and punch him in the nose? Or have you ever had the desire to drive a Softball into the navel of the proprietor down the street? You will now have the opportunity to do the latter, and can assist a worthwhile fund-raising cause while you're at it. After taking a couple of months to fully organize their efforts, the Cedar City Softball Committee now has things going full-blast full-blast and has planned several fund-raising activities to help raise money for a new Softball complex. Foremost among the means ' being used to collect revenue for the new park is the concept of setting up Softball games between "natural rivals" in the area. For example, the Cedar City Police Department could tangle with the Iron County Sheriff's Department. KSUB radio could play against KBRE radio and the formidable Iron County Record could host the Spectrum. Mini-tournaments could be conducted between the four media representatives in the City, for example, or other organizations with similarities. Games will include rivals in all areas of business including car dealerships, motels, real estate firms, industrial businesses, restaurants, fast-food businesses and service stations. The sky is the limit. Other types of groups that could become involved in-volved in "natural rival" games would include booster and civic clubs, teachers, athletic teams and just about anybody. Games will be scheduled during the week of April 26 through May 1 on the Cedar City softball field. Each team will be required to donate $50 minimum to participate. par-ticipate. This money will be utilized to build the new , complex, r to be located just east of the Cedar High School football field. Anybody wishing to issue a "challenge" to a rival and set up a game can contact Barry Church or Dick Harris at 586-1101 during business hours. Anyone wishing to help the fund-raising efforts by donating time, money or commodities should also contact Church or Harris. .
