Show Comic opera to be performed CEDAR CITY . -Making its second appearance ap-pearance here, the renowned Gilbert and Sullivan repertory company Opera A La Carte will present "The Pirates of Penzance," a comic opera at Cedar High April 15. This final program of the music arts season will begin at 8 p.m. Admission at the door is $5. Music Arts patrons may attend with their season passes. SUSC students and CHS students may attend free with ID. All Iron County School students are admitted free in the company of an adult. Based in Los Angeles and founded in 1970 by well known British Gilbert and Sullivan specialist Richard Sheldon, Opera A La Carte has enjoyed a rapid rise to fame. Starting out as a small concert ensemble, en-semble, the company quickly grew and five years later produced its first full scale production produc-tion "The Mikado." . Further productions were subsequently added to the repertoire and Opera A La Carte was soon earning ear-ning national recognition as a touring company with high standards and artists of outstanding caliber. Many will remember when, seven years ago, several principals from Opera A La Carte presented a program of Gilbert and Sullivan highlights. |
