Show Onera broadcast to air CEDAR CITY Beethoven's only opera, "Fidelio," a noble story of love, fidality and resue, will be broadcast live from the Metropolitan Opera House on Saturday. Broadcast over the Texacc-Metropolitan Opera Radio Network, it will be heard locally at noon over KGSU-FM, the Southern Utah State College radio station. The cast for the broadcastfeatures Shirley Verrett as the faithful Leonore; Edward Sooter as her imprisoned husband, Florestan; Leif Roar in his Met broadcast debut as the prison governor Don Pizzaro; John Macurdy as Rocco, the jailer; Judith Blegen as Rocco's daughter, Marzelline; and James Atherton as Jacquino, the turnkey. Bernard Haitink, making his Met broadcast debut, is the conductor. KGSU-FM is located at 90.1 megahertz on the radio dial. It is operated by students |
