Show Horseshoers place well in meet CALICO, Calif. Three Cedar City area horseshoers traveled to the fourth annual Calico Ghost Town Horseshoe Tournament, conducted here last weekend, and fared very well. Players in the tourney' converged on Calico from as far away as New Mexico and Utah, and tournament competition was keen. Local player George Sarkis won six of six games to capture top 1 honors in class-"K" play. Sarkis was playing in his initial horseshoe tournament, tour-nament, and he only started playing the sport last year. Dennis Ohms was another area pitcher who did very well. Ohms was victorious in class "C," winning five of six games. Jerry Moritz was another area player who was involved in tournament tour-nament action, though he didn't place. |
