Show Light Attendance Parks First Scouting Session Very light attendance marked the opening sesion of the 1956 UniveTsity of Scouting at Alia-mont Alia-mont High School last Thursday evening as 82 scouters registered from the combined Roosevelt, Duchesne Du-chesne and Moon Lake- Districts, reports James E Bacon, 1956 University Uni-versity of Scouting chairman. Second session of the 1956 Duchesne Du-chesne County University of scouting scout-ing will be held tonight (Thursday) (Thurs-day) at he Altamont High School beginning at 7:30 p.m. Third session ses-sion is planned for next Thursday, November 15. Some 158 scouters are registered for the Uintah District University of Scouting at Vernal which enters its third week tomorrow (Friday), night "There is still plenty of time to receive graduation certificates and to asure the success of the 1956 University of Scouting with at least 100 graduates," continued chairman Bacon. Excellent instruction in six phases phas-es of scouting is available to any registered scouter, church or civic leader, and parents of boys 8 to 18 in the Roosevelt, Duchesne and Moon Lake Scout Districts. Cub Instructors Mr. and Mrs. Wikner Murray are instructors for the Cub Scouting Scout-ing course; Rulon Dean Skinner and Elwood Carter for the Boy Scouting department; Viola Har-. Har-. rison and Howard Andrews for the Guide Patrol; Max R. Todd and Harold Timothy for the Exploring Spencer Squire and Leo Haueter for the Commissioner; and Elvin O. Barker, Glen Mohlman, and Floyd Labrum for the district committee com-mittee course. , In order to graduate an adult must attend five of the six sessions OR four of the six and complete a written make-up assignment Graduation will be at 9 p.m. on the last night. December 13. Last year at the. University of Scouting held in Roosevelt 118 of the 170 graduated were from the Roosevelt, Duchesne and Moon Lake Scout Districts, concluded Mr. Bacon. |
