Show '57 Pontiac Goes On Display In Roosevelt Friday The 4957 Pontiac will be introduced intro-duced at Center Service in Roosevelt Roose-velt Friday. The new Pontiac is in three series, the Star Chief with a 124-inch 124-inch wheelbase and the Super Chief and Chieftan on a 122-inch wheel base. It features the dynamic dynam-ic new Star Flight body styling. Tested on Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats, the Pontiac is longeT and lower with road clearance not decreased. It has 14.-inch wheels. Wide Front End The wide front end of the 1957 Pontiac is high-lighted by heavy wrap-around bumpers with integrated inte-grated bomb-type guards. Large oval parking lamps are set into thelower part of the bumpers. A semi-circular chrome grille and a full width air scoop directs air flow to the car radiator. Hooded head lamps are surmounted sur-mounted by sleek front-fender ornaments. Greater vision i s achieved by lowering the hood 1.6 inches and increasing the windshield wind-shield area 75.4 square inches in Catalinas, convertibles and custom station wagons and by 69 square inches in sedans and other sta-tio sta-tio wagons. The Strato-Streak V-8 engine, with displacement increased to 347.04 cubic inches, has higher horsepower, 10:1 compression ratio, ra-tio, larger manifolding, completely machined and contoured combustion combus-tion chambers, larger, more efficient ef-ficient valves and newly designed carburetors. The 1957 line will offer engines with horsepowers of 252 and 270, and an additional extra horsepower engine especially designed . for , law enforcement cars.
