The dop-sters dop-sters have the game all sewed up for Millard, but maybe Coach Ted Heath's kids can relegate the sportswriters to the same category cate-gory as those who figured Lee or Rpmney would beat Clyde for the governorship. . . . Anyway, there will be a lot of us Union boosters who'll be a-cheering for the Black and Gold clad Cougars, come tomorrow at 1 p.m. - - c o - - Usually the first screw that gets loose in a person's head is the one that controls the tongue. -30- MORE ON THE ELECTION That it pays to advertise was emphatically brought out in Tuesday's Tues-day's election For months the newspapers and other medium of advertising have urged people to get registered and then vote on election day. . . . That people read the various messages and heeded the call is evidenced by the record vote cast throughout the nation. RESPONDED LOCALLY It's interesting to know that one district dis-trict in Duchesne City, No. 1 and Hanna turned in a 100 vote Every eligible voter cast his ballot, bal-lot, either by absentee or at the polls. ... Of 590 names on the books in Roosevelt No. 2, 71 have moved away;, 16 were out of town and unable to be at the polls, leaving only 4 citizens who refused re-fused to take time to come out and vote. ... In other words there were 472 who came to the polls and 27 voted the- absent ballot for a total of 499 out of 503 who could make it to the polJs. Only two failed to vote in Duchesne No. 2 district. ... No doubt there are other districts in Duchesne county who can equal the records reported, but the county clerk did not have the data compiled by press time so more on this next week. --co-- Most summer romances are ended by fall, or by marriages. 30 |
