Show Our Boys In The Service KIRK C. WILKINS Undergoing pilot refresher courses in San Diego. Calif., after a six-month tour of combat com-bat duty over Korea with Fighter Figh-ter Squadron 821, is Lt. (jg) Kirk C. Kilkins, USN. son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilkins, of Roosevelt, and husband of the former Miss Junella Sanford, of Boise, Idaho. The squadron is a unit of Air Attack Group 2, now stationed at the U. S. Naval Air Station, San Diego. Squadron 821 flies the Navy's F9F "Panther" jet fighter, the first U. S. Navy, jet fighter to be initiated into actual combat. . The refresher courses are designed de-signed to maintain pilot proficiency. profi-ciency. MAX J. -M. LAWSON " Pvt. Max J. M. Lawson, 20, son of Mrs. J. A. Lawson, Roosevelt, Roos-evelt, is completing his AF basic bas-ic airmen -indoctrination course at Lackland Air Force Base, the "Gateway to the Air Force." Lackland, situated near San Antonio, is the world's largest air force base, site of Air Force basic training for men and Human Resource Research Center, Cen-ter, and home of. AF's Officer Candidate School. His basic training is preparing prepar-ing him for entrance into Air Force technical training and for assignment in specialized work. The course includes a scientific evaluation of his aptitude ap-titude and inclination for following fol-lowing a particular vocation and career. |
