Show Roosevelt Civic OroupSets Annual Meeting - March 15 has been definitely set as the date for the first annual an-nual meeting of the Roosevelt Chamber of Commerce, and Gus P. Backman, executive secretary of the Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce, will deliver the main address to all members of the local organization and their wives, partners or guests at the dinner meeting. According to Thomas Gab-bert, Gab-bert, president, an invitation is being extended to the Price and Vernal chambers to send representatives repre-sentatives to the meeting that will officially see the Rooseveii unit become a real, live association associ-ation of business and profession-al profession-al men and women, who havr banded together to build Roosevelt Roos-evelt and the Uintah Basin. At the meeting the newly elected officers will be installed and instructed as to their duties. A committee on arrangements was named sometime ago', with Cliff Memmott as chairman, assisted as-sisted by Gordon Harmston, Bennie Ben-nie Schmiett and E. J. Nixon. At the meeting, Mr. Gabbert will outline the progress of the organization to that time and what is being planned for future activities. Five main committees have been named and are at work outlining their respective activities. The committees will be announced possibly next week by the president. One achievement of the Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce that is functioning func-tioning at the present and will be a great service to the business busi-ness establishments is the Bluo Card system of solicitations. During the past two weeks since it was actively put into operation opera-tion at least four applications have been made for Blue Cards some have been approved and some have not. "Only when the members of the Chamber of Commerce support the Blue Card and refuse to make contributions contri-butions unless they have the card, will the project work," Mr. Gabbert said. Regular meetings of the ex- , : ecutive committee and board of ' directors are being held. |
