Ready For County SOCIALETTE CLUB TO CARRY ROOSEVELT DRIVE Members of the Duchesne County Red Cross board met last Thursday at the home of Mrs. Howard Harrison, county chairman, to commence plans for the annual Red Cross campaign. j The county quota for 1952 is $1246, with 47 per cent remain- ' ing in Duchesne County and 53 . per cent going to the national fund. Out of every amount re- , ceived after the quota is reached 50 per cent will remain at home. Vern B. Thorpe, of Salt Lake City, Red Cross field representative, represen-tative, is in Duchesne County this week to more fully organize organ-ize the campaign with the local board. Mrs. Pailijey Rawlings has been appointed county drive chairman, with the Socialette Club, headed by Mrs. Donald Laris, to take over the Roosevelt Roose-velt City campaign. Mrs. Harrison announced that the county will be divided into four sections as follows: Du- chesne area, including Duchesne, iFruitland and Bridgeland with the quota set at $271; Tabiona area, including Tabiona, Mtn. Home, Bo'neta, Talmage and Hanna, quota, $125; Altamont ( area, including Altamont, Al-tonah. Al-tonah. Mt. Emmons, Upalco, Arcadia Ar-cadia and Bluebell, quota $150; and Roosevelt area, including Roosevelt. Myton, Pleasant Valley, Val-ley, Ioka, Neola and Montwe!, quota $700. A chairman will be appointed for each area, with the aim ot the chapter to attain the quota the first week in March. The whole Red Cross program has been designed now to aid service men. Reports reveal that over $500 was spent by the Duchesne Du-chesne County chapter last year to aid service men. For example, a portion was used in helping service men obtain emergency leaves, a certain amount was expended ex-pended in contacting the service (Continued on back page) RED CROSS... (Continued from page 1) men or their parents in emergencies, emer-gencies, such as telegrams and telephone calls. Some was consumed con-sumed by parents to make an emergency - trip to the bedside of a sick soldier, and numerous other things were done to aid boys from this county. Mrs. Harrison also stated that the county chapter had donated $85 for the eastern flood relief, which eliminated making " a house to' house canvass. A blood doning project will be supervised in the near future by the local B.P.W. Club and financed by the Red Cross. A certain Sunday will be designated as Red Cross Sunday, Sun-day, when trailers will be shown in the local theatres and talks given in the churches. Board members present at trie meeting last week were: Mrs. Howard Harrison, county Red Cross chairman; Mrs. Grant Kil-lian, Kil-lian, county secretary: Mrs. L. V. Hancock, home service chair-I chair-I man; and Mrs. Parley Rawlings. campaign chairman. Unable to attend was Mrs. Clyde Johnson, John-son, home nursing chairman. |
