Show 2 Are Elected To National Church Board PITTSBURGH. PA. -- Two residents of Bountiful were elected to boards of national bodies of the 1 .75 million member mem-ber United Church of Christ. THE UNITED Church's General Synod, which meets biennially to set policy for the denomination, elected George F. L. Bishop a corporate member mem-ber of the United Church Board for World Ministries and re-elected the Rev. Donald M. Procter a corporate member mem-ber of the United Church Board for Homeland Ministries. Minis-tries. Both are associated with Bountiful Community Church. Mr. Bishop is a retired vice-president vice-president for refining of the Phillips Oil Company. The president of the Rotary Club and Lions Club, Mr. Bishop is director of the local Chamber of Commerce. He is Bountiful Community Church's representative repre-sentative to the elderly housing hous-ing project and has chaired its every member canvass and membership drive. MR. PROCTOR is minister of the church and directs its food pantry. He is a member of the Utah State Board of Men- ; tal Health and the chairman of the board of the Children's Service Society. He chaired the Utah Coalition Versus the Death Penalty, was a member -of the State Department of Social So-cial Services and the Gov- . ernor's Task Force on Family Values, and is a former president presi-dent of the Salt Lake Ministerial Ministe-rial Association. Mr. Proctor also sits on the board of directors of the United Un-ited Church's Rocky Mountain Moun-tain Conference. He has been a ' member of the conference peace task force and was chair of the church and ministry committee of the denomination's denomina-tion's Utah Association. |
