THE COUPLE planted nine foot high blue spruce in 1968 and several years later cut down one of the trees each year to use as the family Christmas tree. On a trip to Oregon, they brought back 12 miniature Elberta Spruce trees and currently they have 65 of these trees on their premises. Being small trees, they can well use this many, and they also have two mugo pines and three Japanese pines as well as one red maple. This maple provides pro-vides morning shade for the patio at the rear of the home, where family, friends and neighbors may sit and just enjoy. THEY ALWAYS bring back rocks from trips all over the United States, Canada and Mexico. In a what-not area, they place these rocks and on the patio are many interesting pieces of pottery and other in teresting articles from other countries. Many perennials have been gifts from friends and relatives. rela-tives. During the winter and early spring they plan the types of annuals and colors which they want to plant that year. THOUGH THE yard is rather small, the couple has planned carefully so that their plantings are very suitable to their small area, a fascinating place to just sit and relax. Besides the flowers and pines, there are semi-dwarf peach trees, a prune tree and a genetic dwarf apricot tree. There is even a place for seven caged tomato plants and 12 pepper plants, all skillfully arranged so the garden does not look crowded or cluttered. THE COUPLE loves to share their lovely back yard and patio, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in this area on Aug. 17, 1982. The information for the Davis County Flower Show will be in the Fair Books or call a committee member or chairman chair-man Glenna Leavitt, 451-2200. kj |
