Bonnie was chosen a "Favorite Cook" in the recent Clipper poll. THE CALIFORNIA quiche which Ann Marie is about to serve, is ready to eat cold, or could be warmed in the microwave. micro-wave. The quiche is also good, used as an appetizer in very small wedges or good for the main dish meal. With a green salad and rolls plus a beverage, this will be a nice meal for serving either on the patio or inside, if preferred. . FOR DESSERT there is the fresh strawberry cake roll, frosted with cream, whipped, and then decorated with whole strawberries and mint leaves. Carrie Johnson, a niece of Bonnie, shows this gorgeous strawberry roll and be sure to use whole strawberries with the fresh mint leaves from the garden for decorating this dessert de-ssert or any other. The mint leaves are also good after washing and chilled, to drop into the ice tea or other cold drink for a bit of added flavor. This jelly roll type cake is very attractive and delicious, especially espe-cially served at the table or for a buffet meal. CALIFORNIA QUICHE 1 pkg. regular size Pillsbury crescent rolls 4 oz. shredded Mozzerella cheese 3 eggs, beaten 'A cup heavy cream 2 Tbps. chives, chopped 5 strips bacon, fried and crumbled 1 3 oz. can French fried onions on-ions SPREAD ROLLS into a quiche dish or a large glass pie plate could be used, about 9 inch. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the rolls. Now combine eggs, cream, chives and bacon and pour into the shell, made of the crescent rolls. Sprinkle the onion bits over the top of quiche and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Serve hot or cold as a main dish or as an appetizer. Serves 6 for a main dish or 10 to 12 for appetizer. FRESH STRAWBERRY CAKE ROLL for the cake: I cup flour 1 tsp. baking powder V tsp. salt Combine these ingredients and set aside until later. 3 large eggs 1 cup sugar 13 cup water 1 tsp. vanilla LINE A jelly roll pan, about 12x14 inches, with foil and grease well. Heat the oven to 375 degrees. Beat the eggs until un-til very thick and lemon colored. col-ored. Gradually beat in the sugar. Blend in the water and vanilla vanil-la on low speed and slowly mix in the dry ingredients, just until the batter is smooth. Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 12 minutes. LOOSEN edges and immediately im-mediately turn upside down on a towel which is sprinkled with confectioners sugar. Remove the foil and trim off edges. While still hot, roll the cake and towel, from the narrow edge and cool. Edges of cake which have been cut off can be rolled in powdered sugar for snacking. Whip 1 cup of whipping cream and sweeten. Add 1 quart of fresh sliced strawberries. strawber-ries. Spread over the roll and roll again, like a jelly roll. WHIP AND sweeten another 1 cup of whipping cream and frost the cake, decorate de-corate with whole strawber ries and the mint leaves. Bonnie Taylor, who was selected as a favorite cook said, "Serving family or friends should give one a special spe-cial feeling. I like to entertain and cooking seems to be a release re-lease from tension and is so relaxing for me." BONNIE and husband Steven, have a 16 year old daughter, Stefanie, who is presently pre-sently touring Europe with the French Club of Bountiful High School, a four weeks tour for the class. Ann Marie is 10, a member of the Bountiful Stars Drill Team and performed with the Osmonds on July 2. THE TAYLORS enjoy golfing, golf-ing, snow and water skiing as well as traveling. They have r recently returned from the Orient. The family lives on the east bench with a beautiful view ol the valley from the patio. THE FAMILY moved froir California to Bountiful five years ago. Mr. Taylor is manager mana-ger of the Bailey Tire Company Com-pany in Salt Lake City. Carrie Johnson is a niece ; and living with the family for the summer. She is a student at Utah State University. CAMILLE DuPaix is a friend of Ann Marie. Bonnie's friend Janis DuPaix nominated Bonnie as a favorite cook and said, "She loves to cook and tries new recipes, sharing them with friends and neighbors. II someone is sick, Bonnie is the first one there to help out." |
