Show Utah Symphony to Open Season in Salt Lake Oct. 24 Opening of the Utah Symphony season is now only about six weeks away, and the sale of season tickets tic-kets has picked up tremendously according to Harold Gregory, Utah Symphony manager. First concert of the 1958-59 season is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 24. Conductor Maurice Abravanel has scheduled an all-Beethoven concert for the inaugural. Guest stars on the coming series include Nan Merriman, soprano; Claudio Arrau and Glenn Gould, pianists; Nathan Milstein, violinist, violin-ist, and Pierre Monteux, guest conductor. con-ductor. Final concert of the season will be March 13. Mr. Gregory points out that season sea-son ticket holders not only get their choice of the finest seats but also make big saving's by purchasing purchas-ing tickets for the full series. It is expeoted that the advance season ticket sales will set a new record this year. There is every indication that it will be one of the greatest seasons in the history his-tory of the orchestra. Mr. Gregory urges all music patrons pa-trons to call the symphony office, 55 West First South, Salt Lake City as soon as possible for tickets to be sure of securing the best seats. He also points out a substantial sub-stantial increase in symphony ticket tic-ket sales as gifts and also from industrial firms for employee and client use. Many out-of-town music fans are buying season tickets together, to-gether, sharing the cost and dividing divid-ing the tickets. |
