Show Students at Home While Teachers Convene in SLC Students of the schools of Alpine Al-pine District are enjoying a two-day two-day holiday, Oct. 2 (today) and Oct. 3, while their teachers travel to Salt Like City for the annual Utah Educational Association convention. According to an announcement from the office of Alan West, association as-sociation secretary, the convention conven-tion will open officially with a general session Thursday night and -will continue through Saturday. Satur-day. For the first time in many years, headquarters of the teachers teach-ers will be moved away from Hotel Utah. The 1958 convention will be directed from the new Hotel Utah Motor Lodge. Registration Regis-tration of members and the annual an-nual election of officers will be held there. According to UEA officials, the keynote speaker will be Captain William C. Mott, adviser to General Gen-eral Nathan Twining, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Other Oth-er general session speakers will be Dr. C. Earl Hoskall, general education adviser to the Phillip-pines; Phillip-pines; Dr. Waurine Walker, past NEA president and Dr. Harold G. Shane, professor of education at Northwestern University. Several reports on Russian education ed-ucation will attraot much interest at the convention and definite efforts ef-forts will be made to find ways to improve teaching methods in Reading, Science and Mathematics.
