Show VIKINGS GO DOWN AGAIN LAST FRIDAY TO UINTAH 'UTES1 The Uintah Utes served notice last Friday that tli"y will be the team to beat in Region VII football foot-ball play this year. The Redskins all but scalped the invading 1957 Viking Champions in a game which ended 29 to 6 in favor of the home club. A combination of a fast -striking passing and running attack and a stout defensive line was responsible for the Ute success. The combo was just too much for the young and relatively inexperienced inexper-ienced Vikings. All of the Ute's scoring came in the middle two quarters, as the Redmen racked up four touchdowns, three extra points and a snfety for the 2G points. The first score came when Mark Bingham hit Gary Sutton with a 46-yard pass over the Pleasant Grove goal line. The Utes went to the ground for their second touchdown just be fore the end of the first half. Cloj'd McOarri'll bulled over H yards for the score. Soon after the long rest period, Sutton scored twice on passes. The first went for 15 yards and was thrown by McCarrell and the second for 57 yards was heave 1 by Bingham. Between the third quarter touchdowns, three sharp Uintah defensive plays rocked I'l. Grove back for 35 yards. Then Ted Corless caught a Viking back in the end zone for a two-p.rint safety. Pleasant Grove's lone touchdown touch-down came in the fourth period. per-iod. Craig Smith carried over for the tally. The Vikings are idle this week on account of the Teachers UEA Convention in Salt Lake City. League play will be resumed on Friday, October 10, when BY High plays here. |
