Show Reno, Brinkerhoff and Jackson top ladies' golf (again) by DAVE ADLER Record staff writer From Ben Hogan and "Jack Nicklaus to Kathy Whitworth and Nancy Lopei, the goal of every golfer is the same consistency. No golfer ever attains it, of course; The Game simply won't permit it. But a number of players have flirted with it, from Augusta National to Pebble Beach to Park City. Among those flirting with consistency consis-tency these days are three golfers who play in the Park City Ladies' Golf Association Maggie Reno, Shari Brinkerhoff and Sandy Jackson. On Tuesday, May 28 these golfers again captured top honors in the weekly league. Reno, who dismissed her win "because we're missing some of our hot golfers," played her way to first in the 18-hole low gross competition. Sari Brennan finished second. Sandy Jackson finished first in the nine-hole low gross play and Cathy Kahn finished second. Brinkerhoff earned the title in the 18-hole low net competition, and Francine Valline was runner-up. The league also sponsored two special contests last week. Renee Arth won the closest-to-the-hole award with her tee shot on the par 3, 110-yard 11th hole, and Carol Shackelford won the longest drive contest on the 16th hole. In other association news, the traveling team earned a home course victory over the visiting Stansbury contingent. Playing for the Park City team were Reno, Nancy Brandon, Laurie Murley, Brennan, Brinkerhoff, Brinker-hoff, Nani Nelson, Rosemary Cyphers and Barbara Jackson. |
