Show Watercolor workshop I to begin June 10 I As part of the Kimball Art Center's Summer Arts Institute, a landscape watercolor workshop taught by Dawna Barton will be held June 10 through 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The workshop will focus on ways of creating a literal interpretation of the landscape without being rigid. Daily demonstrations will explore problem-solving techniques as students stu-dents travel to Park City locations to paint. Barton is known for her water-colors water-colors of flowers, landscapes, historic histo-ric buildings and aspects of the natural environment. During the past few years she has executed a series of paintings dealing with subjects from the world of folklore SWWf'WSlSSOOOOooemooooaeoaooooomeoaoaoM and fairy tales. In these paintings, the soft shapes and gestures and the details of clothing, texture and color evoke tender responses from her audience. Barton received her training in Utah and Wyoming and worked professionally , in commercial., and . graphic arts... But it wasn't, until S . Barton discovered,. watercolor.,. that ' she made the transition to fine art. Barton's work has been the 1 subject of many shows throughout the state. She has received numerous numer-ous artistic awards and honors. The workshop can be taken for credit through the University of Utah Division of Continuing Education.
