Unless otherwise noted, events listed below will take place in Salt Lake City.. MOVIES Heads up, operetta fans! Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy are featured in the Salt Lake City Library film series for June. The program begins with "Naughty . Marietta" with Jeanette as a French princess of the 18 th centurv fleeine to the New World to escape an arranged marriage, and Nelson as a rugged but musical woodsman. It co-stars Frank Morgan and Elsa Lanchester. The film plays on Friday, June 7, at 2 p.m. for 25 cents and 7 p.m. for 50 cents. The library is at 209 East 500 South. At the Blue Mouse: "Siddhartha" is Hesse's story of a young man's search for identity; the Australian film "Man of Flowers" is about the world of a rich, repressed middle-aged bachelor; "The Stone Boy" shows a farm family (Robert Duvall, Glenn Close, Wilfred Brimley) shaken by an accidental killing; and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is not for delicate stomachs watch out for Leatherface! The Mouse is at 260 East 100 South. The Utah Media Center presents the classic films of Judy Garland and the dark visions of Orson Welles. This week it presents "Meet Me in St. Louis," which was deservedly Garland's favorite film. This nostalgic story about an early-1900s family in St. Louis facing a move to New York also stars Margaret O'Brien and Mary Astor, and features classics like "The Trolley Song" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." It plays on June 7 at 7 :30 p.m., June 8 at 5 :30 p.m. and June 9 at 7:30 p.m. Welles stars in the 1948 "MacBeth," which is a noble, if flawed effort filmed on disguised Western sets. Jeanette Nolan is Lady MacBeth and Roddy MacDowell is one of his royal challengers. It plays on June 8 at 7:30 p.m. and June 9 at 5:30 and 9:30 p.m. Admission is $2.50 for each film or $3.50 for the double feature. On June 6-8, the Center presents the 1985 Short Film and Video Festival, including commercial documentaries and independent film and video. An awards party at the Salt Lake Art Center, 20 South West Temple on June 8 is followed by screening of the festival winners at 9 :30 p.m. Finally, the Center ends the week with the last film in its "Heroes and Heroines" series, "Dr. Strangelove." Kubrick's classic farce plays at the Media Center on June 12 in a free 7 p.m. showing. Films are shown in the auditorium of the Salt Lake Art Center. For further information, call 534-1158. MUSIC The ParkWest Summer Concert series begins with Howard Jones, an English rocker, on Monday, June 10, at 7:30 p.m. Also appearing is special guest Red 7. Tickets, available at Datatix outlets and the ParkWest Ski Resort office, are $13.25 in advance, $15.25 the day of show. Dress for cool evenings. No coolers, containers, alcohol, cameras or recorders are allowed. Chris LeDoux is scheduled for a pair of free concerts at Lagoon on June 7. Show times are 7 and 9 p.m. The Zephyr, at 301 South West Temple, presents the Fowler Brothers on June 6 and Albert Collins and the Ice Breakers on June 11. The Triad Center continues its free noontime concerts with Dave Compton on June 6, the Tempo Timers on June 7, Tenpenny on June 10, Ed Pratt on June 11 and the Trenches on June 12, . , , Expect rowdiness when the Salt Palace hosts Hank W illiams Jr. and Lacy J. THEATRE Park City Performances takes you back to the lusty, brawling days of "Chicago" at the Egyptian Theatre on Park City's Main Street. It is presented on June 7 and 8 and June 13 to 15 at 8 p.m. Join El Gallo and company for the perennial hit "The Fantasticks" at Theatre 138 (138 South 200 East). It plays Thursday-Saturday through June 29 at 8 p.m. James Arlington presents "The Farley Family Reunion" at the Little Bowery, of Promised Valley Playhouse (132 South State) Wednesday-Saturday through June 22 at 7:30 p.m. A June 22 matinee is at 2 p.m. "Annie" comes to the Triadtheater amphitheater (300 West and South Temple) playing Tuesday-Saturday through June 22. Tickets are $5 and showtimes are 8:30 p.m. A matinee on June 22 is at 5:30 p.m. "Robin Hood" plays at Plum Alley in the Promised Valley Playhouse (132 South State) through June 8 at 5 p.m. (Wednesday-Thursday) (Wednesday-Thursday) and 7:30 p.m. (Friday-Saturday). Saturday matinees are at 2 p.m. The hills are alive with "The Sound of Music," starring Zelie Daniels and Robert Peterson at Pioneer Memorial Theatre at the U. of Utah. It plays nightly, except Sundays, through June 8 at 8 p.m. ETCETERA j The Kimball Art Center at the bottom of Main Street in Park City presents the Utah Watercolor Society group show, an annual juried, display, plus the metaphysical paintings of Robert Setrakian.
