Show 1-80 mishap injures two Two men were injured the night of July 19 after a collision on Interstate 80 about a mile east of Kimball's Junction. Charles B. Turpin, 32, of Murray, had parked a 1977 Chevrolet wrecker in the eastbound emergency lane, according to the report from state highway trooper Ross Pace. He was giving a battery jump to a 1979 Dodge van driver by FYancis Glenn Kriger, 64, of Bend, Oregon. A third driver, Dennis E. Koch, 20, of Bountiful, was eastbound in a 1970 Volkswagen. The mishap occurred when Koch drifted into the emergency iane, hitting the Dodge van. Turpin, standing between the stopped vehicles, was crushed in the lower body and legs, said Trooper Pace. Koch suffered head and face lacerations. Both men were transported to St. Marks Hospital. The hospital on Wednesday reported they were in fair condition. |
