Show Let the library take a load (of books) off your hands If your bookshelves are overflowing overflow-ing with Harlequin romances and who-done-its you've already read, and its impossible to stuff even one more volume into the already overstocked cases - relief is on the way. The Friends of the Park City Library who are preparing their second annual book sale, will gladly take some of those well-worn works off your hands. Then you will have room to start all over again. Ist year the sale raised over $500 to purchase more reference books for the library. This year s proceeds will be used to expand the library's children's book collection, said Jane Harrington, president of the volunteer volun-teer group. According to Harrington the Friends are gathering hardbacks, paperbacks, magazines, games and puzzles for the sale which will be held Saturday, Aug. 11 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. jn front of the library. They will even'arrange to pick them up at your house if it is inconvenient for you to bring them to the library. The prices for these second-hand treasures on the day ot the sale will be a book-hound's dream. The hardbacks will cost 50 cents and the paperbacks will be 25 cents, said Harrington. "Last year a woman bought a whole shopping bag full of romances," she said. "We already have a good selection for the sale. The Library of Congress sent us a whole shipment of their surplus books," said Harrington. Donations to the book sale are tax. deductible and pickups may be arranged by calling 649-7311. |
