Show Jeremy golf tourney to benefit Indian Services ; Professional golfer Johnny Miller and Brigham Young University's i American Indian Services and Research Center will sponsor a golf tournament at Jeremy Ranch Aug. 4. ; In addition to Miller, "The Great American Indian Shootout" will feature other pro golfers from Utah, including Mike Reed, Ernie Snyder, Lanny Nelson, Steve Sharp, Joey Monsignore, Kim Thompson, Reed MacArthur, Scott Brandy, Ron Branca and Sonny Braun. Howard Rainer, assistant director of Indian Services, said the professional golfers will play on teams with amateur Indian golfers from all over the nation. . The tournament will begin at 10 a.m. with a 40-minute exhibition by : Miller before the competition starts. Prizes will be given for the best performances, including a 1984 van for a hole-in-one. :" Proceeds from entry fees will go to Indian Services to help fund more than 65 projects dealing with land and water development, adult education, health and nutrtion and economic development on Indian reservations. The public is welcome to attend the tournament. |
