San Francisco landed at Santiago, Cuba, the revolution -was at its height, but they immediately restored order. No fighting occurred, the presence of the Americans being sufficient to subdue the fighting spirit of the revolutionists. The marines were sent ashore on the request of the civil governor gov-ernor of Santiago, as a precaution against further disorder. |
